In the MARDEK series, Items are in-game objects that can be collected by the player. Most items have a purpose: they can be used to complete a Quest, to Craft a better item, to cure Status Effects or heal, and to advance the plot. They can also be sold at a shop for Gold, or equipped to increase Statistics and teach new Skills.

Different kinds of equipment usually occupy different places (e.g. a sword is usually held in the hand, and a helmet is usually placed over the head). The places that a piece of equipment might occupy are called equipment slots. There are six equipment slots in total, each of which can only contain a single item. They are: the Weapon slot, the Shield slot, the Helmet slot, the Armour slot, and two Accessory slots.

Items are divided into 28 types, based on their purpose and slots they can be equipped in. Due to arbitrary restrictions, certain playable characters cannot equip items of certain types.

Weapons

Swords

Swords are a kind of equipment, and can usually be equipped in the Weapon slot by Mardek and Vehrn. They are denoted by the type 'WEAPON: SWORD'.

Spears

Spears are a kind of equipment, and can be equipped in the Weapon slot by Donovan and Sharla. They are denoted by the type 'WEAPON: SPEAR'.

Greatswords

Greatswords are a kind of equipment, and can be equipped in the Weapon slot by Deugan and Bartholio. They are denoted by the type 'WEAPON: GREATSWORD'.

Greataxes

Greataxes are a kind of equipment, and can be equipped in the Weapon slot by Sslen'ck. They are denoted by the type 'WEAPON: GREATAXE'.

Doubleswords

Doubleswords are a kind of equipment, and can be equipped in the Weapon slot by Zach. They are denoted by the type 'WEAPON: DOUBLESWORD'.

Rods

Rods are a kind of equipment, and can be equipped in the Weapon slot by Emela. They are denoted by the type 'WEAPON: ROD'.

Staves

Staves are a kind of equipment, and can be equipped in the Weapon slot by Gloria and Aalia. They are denoted by the type 'WEAPON: STAFF'.

Claws

Claws are a kind of equipment, and can be equipped in the Weapon slot by Solaar. They are denoted by the type 'WEAPON: CLAW'.

Harps

Harps are a kind of equipment, and can be equipped in the Weapon slot by Elwyen. They are denoted by the type 'WEAPON: HARP'.

Robotarms

Robotarms are a kind of equipment, and can be equipped in the Weapon slot by Legion. They are denoted by the type 'WEAPON: ROBOTARM'.

Shields are a kind of equipment, and can be equipped in the Shield slot by Mardek, Emela, and Vehrn. They are denoted by the type 'SHIELD'.

Inventions

Inventions are a kind of equipment, and can be equipped in the Weapon and Shield slots by Meraeador. They are denoted by the type 'INVENTION'.

Sheet Music

Sheet Music is a kind of equipment, and can be equipped in the Shield slot by Elwyen. They are denoted by the type 'SHEET MUSIC'.

Helmets

Hats

Hats are a kind of equipment, and can usually be equipped in the Helmet slot by Mardek, Deugan, Emela, Vehrn, Zach, Donovan, Sharla, Sslen'ck, Solaar, Elwyen, Gloria, Meraeador, and Legion. They are denoted by the type 'HELMET: HAT'.

Half Helms

Half Helms are a kind of equipment, and can be equipped in the Helmet slot by Mardek, Deugan, Vehrn, Zach, Donovan, Sharla, Sslen'ck, and Legion. They are denoted by the type 'HELMET: HALF HELM'.

Full Helms

Full Helms are a kind of equipment, and can usually be equipped in the Helmet slot by Mardek, Vehrn, Sslen'ck, and Legion. They are denoted by the type 'HELMET: FULL HELM'.

Armour

R. Plating

Accessories

Accessories are a kind of equipment, and can usually be equipped in either Accessory slot by Mardek, Deugan, Emela, Vehrn, Zach, Donovan, Sharla, Sslen'ck, Solaar, Elwyen, Gloria, Meraeador, and Legion. They are denoted by the type 'ACCESSORY'.

Gemstones

Gemstones are a kind of equipment, and can be equipped in either Accessory slot by Mardek, Deugan, Emela, Vehrn, Zach, Donovan, Sharla, Sslen'ck, Solaar, Elwyen, Gloria, Meraeador, and Legion. They are denoted by the type 'GEMSTONE'.

Expendable Items

Expendable Items cannot be equipped, but can be used to restore HP, MP and cure Status Effects through the Inventory menu outside of battle, and through the Items skill during battle. They are denoted by the type 'EXPENDABLE ITEM'.

Miscellaneous Items

Miscellaneous Items cannot be equipped, but can be used during Quests and Crafting. They are denoted by the type 'MISCELLANEOUS ITEM'.

Plot Items

Plot Items cannot be equipped, but are used during Quests and to advance the plot. They are denoted by the type 'PLOT', and their names are preceded by a ★ star.

Dreamstones

Main article: Dreamstone.

Dreamstones are a special kind of plot item, and can be accessed through the Dreamstones sub-menu of the Encyclopaedia menu.
