In Miasmon, a Bristleech is an Essent Insectoid/Bestial monster.
A Bristleech is a flying sluglike creature with a shiny grey body. It has two large, batlike webbed wings. Its face is eyeless, consisting only of a gaping circular mouth filled with sharp teeth. A long, clawlike tail hangs behind it.
Wild Bristleeches can be encountered in the Cave of Disappointment. Their level varies from 1 to 5. They can always use their Default skills; additional skills if applicable are randomly selected from their Tier 1 move pool. Their stat boosts are also randomised. Rarely, they will drop a Chitinous Carapace or a Savage Fang.
Bristleeches have high AGILITY but low POWER and VITALITY. They are weak to Fire, Air and Earth attacks.
Bristleeches have high AGILITY but low POWER and are tied for the lowest base VITALITY of any monster.
Bristleeches are weak to Fire, Air and Earth but resist the moral and spiritual elements.
As an Essent monster, Bristleeches cannot learn skills through evolution. A newly-cloned Bristleech will always know its two Default skills. It can use Air, Earth, Dark and non-elemental attacks. It is able to increase its AGILITY, and it can lower the SPIRIT and AGILITY of its foes, confuse, paralyze or poison them or cause them to flinch.

Obtaining and Evolution
After collecting 100% essence from wild specimens, a Bristleech can be cloned at a Miasmachine for 5 Syanra. It can be evolved into a Hirsutinea when it reaches Level 6. It is possible to cancel the evolution, in which case the same evolution will be available at each subsequent levelup.
