I'm aware that many people have already tried to recover this game already but I decided to have one last crack at it. Now, here's where I got up to:
After some digging, I found this page, which is where the Fighunter game was hosted once upon a time. The problem is that the actual game files have been moved elsewhere. The page I linked to embeds a link to "fighunter.com/_old_design/versions/FHc1.swf" which I presume is where the game files were once hosted. Unfortunately, that page no longer exists so Pseudo must've deleted the website page or moved it to another name that no one knows. I decided to share my findings with you guys in case any of you get more ideas.
Damn sure I am!
DarthKitty wrote: Someone might also be able to hack Fig Hunter and find the game, but that's seriously illegal! I do not recommend this course of action.
"If Pseudolonewolf moved it to another part of his site, then someone might be able to guess the new URL. "
This. That's what I was wondering if anyone would be able to do. A stab in the dark, perhaps it is, but I expect Pseudo would name his stuff in a logical manner. That's why I was asking what "D2" stood for; it could've possibly given some clues about he labels his things.
Also, a few disclaimers:
Michos: I don't use Steam very often and I don't know which chat you're talking about. I use the IRC frequently though so if you want to meet me there, I could spend a few minutes talking with you. And, play nice guys...
Pseudo learned a long time ago how to hide stuff that he really doesn't want anybody to find. Things like D2 are just leftovers, from the time when pseude a) Didn't expect anybody woud even look for his games, and b) Wasn't really intending to hide it, as most of those places were linked to in his posts.
Stuff really hidden is hidden in folders thot have no sensible naming, and are just long unguessable strings of gibberish.
Also, rebeber that by Psoudos definition, 'Browsing pages on the site that he has not publicly linked to and permitted you to visit' is already hacking. I am not even joking here. I recall that either him, or some mod once said that browsing the page source is illegal.
What IRC are you referring to?
Pseudo's definition =/= the law.
This thread is not the place to discuss DeeKayFTW's personal issues with me. If anyone wants to continue this side-conversation, please leave a message on my message wall.
Actually, you are the one who wrote an entirely non-topic related reply, yo. And I don't have any personal issues with you, no idea where you came up with this.
Pretty much everything on this page was said by Pseudolonewolf himself. If you require proof, I might try too look for it in my archives. Also, half of those things can be confirmed using other resources than the game itself, you just have to know where to look. After some time, even the Astrostles Alliance gave up on the search for this game. 90% of it was retconned or entirely remade in his later games (released and unreleased) and that makes their original appearance not canon, although we can learn from various sources about e.g. Fignar Hakentaightainford and the planet Ehaiah, this knowledge is not entirely lost to us. If you are not interested in "completing your encyclopaedia" about the Fig Hunter universe, you don't have too look for it. Even a rare treasure like this game won't look good on your wall for a long time. It basically expanded and was turned into content that got reforged into smaller projects comprising a full universe, one of the best out there. You have found the Fig Hunter just by playing other games of Pseudolonewolf. Never forget that.
Also, Deekay wants me to tell you that he is annoyed by your know-it-all and owns-the-place attitude.

Stop being deep and edgy mate. But, well, this is true. This game is basically the stump from which the plots of all old (pre-Alora Fane) games grew. Even though fighting Triobots got pretty much scrapped (though it was featured in both SMECOF and an unreleased Triobot game), one of the side locations was, for example, supposed to contain a portal to Lingonite, where travelling to lingonite is featured both in Deliverance and (indirectly) the recently released beta-miasmon. Well, Mardek technically is a part of a separate tree, since it is almont exclusivelly based on PLW's Neverwinter Nights mod, which as far as I remember predates FH, but it also contains at the very least references to the other stuff.
(And while we're on it, would it be okay to make a page for the NWN mod? It is still publicly available, Pseudo acknowledged its existence, and the entire plot is written exclusively by him, so I say we should incude it here.)
And it you are interested in how the game played, well, DK is right with the 'about as good as RoY' part, since they are both made on the same version of Dwarf Engine. Fignar's graphics can even be found in the game files. The card game is removed, but from what i gather, it was never finished in the first place.
And I repeat the question: What IRC are you referring to?
>Ask what IRC network you're using, since you didn't specify it
>You immediately assume we don't know what an IRC is
>Using backdoor-ridden freenode
And we are not sorry, it's your loss.
What do you think?
